The 80s Called

As you know I love most anything 80s. Apparently people from my age bracket are clearly working at advertising agencies these days. I used to love Radio Shack. My first computer was a TRS-80 CoCo. Radio Shack was a destination for me. I miss the isles of small parts and such. Sadly, today’s RS is basically a cell phone store. As a frequent flyer on Delta I noticed the past few safety videos have been pretty funny. The latest one is the best of course. Finally we end this blog post with a look at what Instagram would have looked like 30 years ago.

“The 80s called … they want their store back. 80s celebrities invade a RadioShack to take back their old stuff and make room for the RadioShack of the future.” – Radio Shack

Glee

Glee is a musical television show here in the USA. There is an iPhone/iPad app also called Glee (iTunes link) that allows you to sing along with the songs heard on the show. It uses pitch detection, correction and some auto chording ala Songsmith or LaDiDa. Maybe someday every song we buy will come with a remix kit and an interactive sing along Karaoke kit? Because the App is designed by Smule it’s fairly slick and like other Smule apps there is an online community aspect to sharing, etc…

“Glee is an American musical comedy-drama television series that airs on Fox in the United States. It focuses on a high school glee club called “New Directions”, at the fictional William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio. The pilot episode of the show was broadcast after American Idol on May 19, 2009, and the first season began airing on September 9, 2009. On September 21, 2009, Fox officially gave the series a full-season pick-up. Glee aired its mid-season finale on December 9, 2009 and returned from a four-month hiatus on April 13, 2010, picking up the remaining nine episodes of the season. The spring premiere had an estimated 13.7 million viewers, nearly doubling in followers on its return.” – Wikipedia.org

Do you want this or does it make you vomit a little?

ReacTable, KRL and Tenori-ON on German TV.

Even if you can’t understand German this is fun to watch. Bjork live using ReacTable, Rémi Dury’s KRL and footage from the Tenori-on event’s.

Do any of you guys own an “alternate” controller? A Monome? I’m still a mouse and keyboard guy but if money were no object I’d own a room full of this stuff!
