Madeleine at Sonic Bloom has posted 6 beautiful Ableton Live 9 Skins that are free to download. Red for while making a love song. Black for on stage!
“I’ve created 6 new skins for Ableton Live that you can download for free. They work well with Live 9 and also previous versions. This set of skins adds more dashes of colour than the last one, but without being too shrill. Enjoy!” – Madeleine

There is a nifty Ableton Live 9 keyboard shortcuts website tool available at keycommands.info. Shortcuts are broken up by tool set and a keyboard displays the keys you should press when you hover over a shortcut.

I love tech meetups. I always pick up a few tips and tricks and it’s nice to meet people in person. Tekserve is one of my favorite stores in Manhattan and in March Ableton and Shocklee are gathering there to show us Live 9 and Push. Ableton’s Huston Singletary, Adriano Clemente, Heinrich Zwahlen and Brian Jackson will be presenting. It’s good if you RSVP in advance. See you there!
“We’re proud to present a very special evening on Tuesday March 5, 2013 – New York City’s first look at the new and much anticipated Live 9 & Push Instrument! You’re invited to join us for a big celebration featuring presentations by Ableton Certified Trainers and hosted by Hank Shocklee & Ableton’s Huston Singletary.” – shocklee.com

Ableton promotional video certainly have a modern Berlin aesthetic to them. Two new videos show Robert Lippok using Live 9 and a video on making beats with the new controller Push.

The feature that has me the most excited about Live 9 is Drum and Melody to MIDI. I’ve use various other tools to do this (Melodyne for one) but it’s always been hit or miss. It does look like Ableton has cracked this and it’s going to be an amazing and useful tool.
“Your voice is the new keyboard: sing, beatbox, tap a rhythm on your desk, or play any solo instrument to capture your musical ideas as they come. Then use the Melody- or Drums-to-MIDI feature to turn your recordings into MIDI clips that you can edit and reuse with any sound.” – ableton.com
