Laibach the infamous Slovenian band on Mute records will perform in New York City at the The Gramercy Theatre (127 E 23rd St) on Tuesday, May 12, 2015. You better believe I will be there. Artists should be free to create and tell any story however dark or wrong the public may perceive it to be. In today’s era of political correctness we need Laibach more than ever!
“We are children of the spirit and brother of might. We are the black sprits of the world. We sing the insane image of horror. Art is a high mission and demands fanaticism.” – Laibach
Above is the trailer for the upcoming Morbid Angel remix album. I’m pleased to be on the same release as Laibach, Skinny Puppy and many other great artists. Morbid Angel is causing a lot of controversy within its own fanbase by jumping genres. Usually artists need to change to grow so I respect what they are doing.
“39 artists from the electro / indus / dub scene, each remix a song from Morbid Angel’s latest offering “Illud Divinum Insanus”. Featuring Laibach, Combichrist, The Horrorist, Punish Yourself, Micropoint, Treponem Pal and many others!”
In keeping with a new tradition on Wire to the Ear called “Sunday Sounds” where I post a music playlist each week here’s the next installment: Electronic Body Music. This is my personal favorite music genre. EBM is creative, powerful and mostly electronic music. You can find some sophisticated song arrangements and vocals in a lot of EBM. The genre almost disappeared in the early 90s but it’s back with new blood. Even the old guys are back on the show circuit.
