I’m not posting this video to make fun of Katie Couric and Bryant Gumbel on The Today Show. I’m thrilled to be reminded how fast we are moving technologically. The internet is the greatest invention in my life and probably one of the greatest things man will ever invent. Humans can instantly share everything with everyone. I am guessing in my lifetime an entire wall in my home could be a super realistic high definition 3D display showing any other room in the world who would like me to see them. It will be almost a transporter. Maybe musicians can play live to stadiums from there living rooms or garages? I was online almost a decade before this video above. I would log on at 300 baud to local BBS’s. I remember I used a service in Rockland County called Mnematics Videotext and the original CompuServe.

The car you see above is the Aptera 2e all electric three-wheeled vehicle. It get’s the equivalent of 200 mpg, will cost less than $45k and will be available this year. It goes from 0-60 in less than 10 seconds and is comfy cruising at over 80 mph. Google is a major investor in Aptera.

So it’s April 2010 and you live in southern California. You head to the Aptera dealership and pick up the keys to your new 2e. You put your seat-belt on and reach for the radio. What song do you pick for your first drive?

Ray Kurzweil is also a well known futurist with a pretty interesting track record. This week the NYTimes ran an article about Kurzweil’s latest predictions titled, “The Future Is Now? Pretty Soon, at Least“. Kurzweil says we will soon have the magic eat whatever you want and don’t get fat pill, cheap solar energy and within a decade we will fuse with technology and live forever.
