I’ve yet to see a full fledged sequencer for iOS that I really want to use. Today the grandfather of sequencers Steinberg bring us Cubasis. Good or not it uses what we musicians know as the traditional sequencer metaphor. I’m really looking forward to try this out but at $49 it’s more than an impulse buy. If it runs smoothly and it’s fun to record and create full songs with this will be very welcome!

“Cubasis is Steinberg’s streamlined, multitouch sequencer for the iPad. Specially designed for quick and easy operation, Cubasis makes recording, editing and mixing a breeze. You can also open your Cubasis projects in Cubase under Windows and OS X! Cubasis places touch-intuitive production tools in your hands, opening up a new world of possibilities for your creativity.” –

  1. Very cute, but I sort of want it for Mac OS also/instead. It would be nice to have something lightweight to load up to do multitrack stuff.

  2. If you do get it please report back about it. I’m curious though the price makes me hesitate. I’ve recently taken the leap to Ableton Suite, which I’m loving, making such an investment unlikely in the short term. Still, it would be good to know how it works out.

I wonder if Ableton is going to take notice of this…

  3. I want Live on my ipad damnit! :D

  4. Yeah… a bit pricey… stick it in AppShopper and wait for it to go on sale.

Funny… the last time I used Cubase was on an Atari ST. Wait… not funny. I’m _old_.

  5. So you’re not a fan of the Phaedra iOS sequencer, Oliver?

    1. Hi Dave.. well its a bit different I think. I like to record vocals on everything you know!
