ohGr – 101

A friend told me I had to hear Skinny Puppy’s ohGr’s last album unDeveloped (2011). After the incredible early SP early stuff I lost interest. What I mean is after a string of great stuff I kept buying their music and a zillion side projects but they were mostly eh a waste of money. As per the recent recommendation I just started to listen to the album and the song 101 is well good. It’s also worth noting he’s one artist worth following on Facebook posting some fun and interesting stuff. Call me suprised whenever an artist from the past wakes up again. The song 101 particularly has me because it “seems” highly autobiographical. Yeah I’m a year late on this but good music is good whenever. Add this to the small and definitely separate from European EBM cannon of Industrial Music.

  1. Took my wife (not a big fan of electronic/industrial music) to see ohGr at a small venue in LA during their latest tour. She was completely surprised at how good the show was. He’s quite the entertainer.

  2. I love Skinny Puppy’s stuff. Some of that stuff is pretty tense and there are lots of things in their music I can relate to…
Definately want to see them live too.
I’ve only got one more side project apart from OhGr on Vinyl and as far as as the wasted money goes I agree…except OhGr for me…
I wonder if my wife would come to their show with me cause shes not into them at all…hehe

  3. cool…was that jacket yours or was it from that tour?not that it would effect its value,I’m just curious…

  4. I saw them in Houston during that tour… my coat got splattered as well. Friend I went with managed to grab some guts… they hung from his rearview mirror for years after… probably still has them. Awesome show. Great to see an artist still wowing audiences after all this time.

  5. …”managed to grab some guts” hehe…
I think an own one is worth much more in times of ebay where almost anything is just a matter of time untill it lands there…
    mustve been a crazy show…

  6. While a lot of the Skinny Puppy side projects can be hit and miss, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by all four ohGr albums. The most recent being his best I think, the track ‘traGek’ in particular. Managed to catch his show when he toured the ‘Devils In My Details’ album a couple of years back. Still quite the showman.

  7. Finally got around to listening to this. It sounds fantastic and give me a nice sensation almost like when I listen to Gary Numan’s Jagged for the first time. A nice dark album.
