I really hope that this has more than the single output that appears in this picture. Otherwise I like the concept, I've created many a drum hit with Nord products!

Interesting, about time Roland has some competition. Let's see how it works out for Nord because in my opinion, Nord and Roland are constant fixtures you see together on the stages of Live EDM groups these days.

What a disappointment. I had been hoping for something to rival the Tempest - or hell, even a Nord version of a Korg ER1. Lots of knobs, pattern based sequencer. With all the MIDI drum brains (most of them with huge sound libraries) out there, and the ease of using software, this seems like an answer looking for a question. Roland already has a cheap & cheerful v-drum product, Alesis has some very inexpensive and well regarded drum products, and the fact is any drummer looking for synthesis will be technical enough to go either software, or to just use samples and create them elsewhere. Especially since it only has 4 trigger inputs, and a stereo output pair.

I love my original Gen1 Nord Lead. They make great products that sound great and are built with solid integrity you don't see in a lot of other products. That said, though I think this thing likely sounds great, the interface does not look all that conducive to programming new drum sounds. It looks like you'll be hitting the "row select" button to select the patch parameter row, and turning the single big knob while listening and watching the LED values (with all the visual granularity of a Poly-800 from 1985) to make a new drum sound. Though that's not awful, its not all that appealing either. I would have liked to have seen something closer to TR-909 style controls maybe, or the dedicated knobs you'd see on an old Simmons SDS-7 pad or something.
