yeh i have to say it is a bit ridic - cos like on proper PC's/macs - applications were always there? - but I suppose it's just marketing in preperation for all this 'convergence' and for the (unfortunately in my eyes) inevitability that a vast majority of machines on the planet will be tablet/touch based. CES had signs all over it - intel makin chips with GPU properties built in, and vice versa nVidia launching an x86 based chip???

also Windows 8 being announced for ARM and SoC stuff

I suppose as long as there'll at least still be the option of using a real keyboard and mouse I'm happy :D

What I'm excited about is that it will show you whether
there are any new updates to the applications you have installed
and then be able to update with a click, just like with
iOS.

We've always been able to install software on our Macs so I'm not entirely sure what all the fuss is about. This would be a far bigger deal if installing apps wasn't previously allowed or something. But as it is, meh.
