The whole idea is to create an ad-hoc network directly between the laptop and the iPad. You can do this absolutely anywhere, and even password protect the network if you want. Good news is network setup has gotten much simpler in version 1.10, have a look at the new PDF. Much shorter. :-) Feel free to get in touch at support@griid.net for any more info.
