What music clicked & what made it click for you?

Yeah more and more I push myself to use real analog equipment as sound sources. Effect wise I think ITB is the way to go though. I chickened out on the iPad this time... stage was tiny and the place so so packed I was covered in sweat. I also couldn't soundcheck so arriving at 1:00AM with a show time of 1:30... seeing the room and energy I had to focus in just getting the basics perfect this time. You know what I mean... pressure! But the show was good... Ill post some photos later today. I have a friend emailing the names/producers of the songs I liked when I know them Ill post them here!

OK, sounds good. I agree that minimal feels a bit like Ikea furniture these days. A mastering engineer buddy has been complaining that the minimal tracks he has been getting that were produced with Ableton are a nightmare to work on. The sample packs that people use have really steep (if any) attacks and they are all puffed out on digital limiter steroids. Mix a bunch of this together into a song and you get lots of speaker excursion but little "meat". Anyway, If you have any names (of tracks or producers) that are keeping it evil, and want to share, please let us know!

(PS, how did the iPad stand up to live use/abuse?)

Well the only reason I didn't mention it above is as usual I'm late to the party when it comes to things but in specific there is a certain style of Minimal that's got me hooked... overall I think the genre is lacking with the exception of a group of really crazy tracks I've been hearing. I can't seem to put into words what makes these ones different but they all share a wacked out strange melody/repeating whispery back round vocal and very evil overall tone. You'll hear a few of these from me soon too ;)

Hi Oliver,

You write:

*The moments when you hear music you’ve heard many times and thought, “ehhh not my thing” and then later you think, “wow this is great”.*

What was that moment for you recently?
