Yeah my mother's basement is a bit moist. I have a dehumidifier in there but every time the power goes out she forgets to get it going again. I wish I could get all those records into digital form and photographed... something. I also have a few hundred cassettes I recorded off the radio in the 80s!

When I moved from England to the US, my parents FedEx'd my records to me. Since then I've moved a few times and now all my vinyl sits in my garage. In Phoenix. In the summer. I'm thinking that's not exactly a good idea.

Good observation. When I had my studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn I had all the records in an Ikea rack. Then when I moved to Berlin I put them all in storage. When I came back to NYC I took them out of storage and put them in my mother's basement. Once I finish renovating my new place they will come back into my arms!

Cool post, but wait, if you have 5000 records then how come every shot I've seen of your apartment and studio looks like a wonderfully sparse utopia. Are these records in storage somewhere?
