Thanks for reading and commenting Nathan. I really am going to make an effort to try the challenge next year. I've been listening to the jukebox all weekend.

I took part in this RPM 2010 as part of the monome community. It was really a great way make you sit down and create something at last, having spent far too much time watching youtube tutorials. Here's the link to our RPM page;

Long time follower of this blog but this happens to be my first comment!
Loving the blog btw

Awesome!- I'm one of the organizers (and a long time wiretotheear reader) and it's so great to see you mentioning RPM. Especially in this day and age of self-releases and DAW induced option paralysis it sometime helps to have a shared goal of making music with a bunch of strangers within a set timeframe. RPM has no goal to make you a star or america's next top model, it just pushes you to actually make music, that's all, and sometimes putting yourself under a unified, self-imposed deadline is exactly what it takes to produce something, and that's what RPM is for. Thanks again for the plug, I hope you pick up the challenge next year Oliver! I should also mention that the RPM jukebox is one of the largest (legal) free music databases in the world...

http://alonetone.com/anu has my last 3 RPM albums up:

Overcast (2009) - Alt-rock glitch Floyd dystopia
Cyborg Love Songs (2008) - Synth-pop like later Depeche Mode
Decayed, Decayed (2007) - My version of a hip-hop record

My 2010 album is "Reflection", a sort of "Bryan Ferry meets Blade Runner" thing.

I've done it the last 3 years and am trying desperately to finish this year (I had some major tech setbacks plus started a new job this February).

It's fantastic. Everyone should try it once.
