6 Train Uptown New York City

6 Train - New York City

6 Train NYC by thingstocome

A recording I made on the 6 Train going uptown in New York City. As you can hear the train sits there more than a minute before it heads from 23rd Street onward. I used an iPhone 3G and the FiRe application which uploads directly to SoundCloud.

Nice. The 6 train is one of the few things I miss about NYC.

I was probably swishing past you, on the 5 train, when you recorded this. =)

I love the sound of the train moving! Thanks for posting more field recordings, they’re my favorite of your posts (well that song about Milo the dog was pretty stellar;-)

That’s really cool, Oliver. Glad you enjoy the FiRe app and the SoundCloud integration.

Btw: I will send you an email with some infos about the Berlin Music Hack Day where developers meet music/web companies to build new apps (similar to FiRe or citysounds.fm) on the API’s provided by these companies.

Yea they do that sometimes, most of the time its pretty quick but the 6 is a lil lax on off peak times. Nice recording, what time was this at?
Im wondering how bad the morning commute is uptown as I am moving downtown but work on 56th.
