Oddly enough, I retyped my reply, without html, and it was eaten again! Maybe I simply posted too much text!! Oh well :)

Anyway the jist of it was that that does make a strong argument for remaining independant, but that I do not think that major labels are evil.
If the opportunity arises, artists always have the option to simply not sign.
Independant artists may be happy where they are, and can even make a living from their music, but if they want the 30-100k film clip and the heavy rotation, then they're going to have to share the proceeds and become apart of the industry.

Hi Pete. I'm not sure why. I didn't delete it or anything. And since you have posted here before and your not a spam bot I don't even have to approve, your posts automatically show up. I've added simple html links and images tags before in comments and they worked. I hope you didn't loose too much text!

Agreed, since we get to ear the bad results daily don't we?
Unfortunately I'm not at all informed how much the Creator of it all gets but from what I read it's more than just a rip-off towards the Creator.I think 13% are in noway acceptable and I wont even start about the 9%...Jeez,a Hoe gets a better cut from her Pimp...
To me,the Future of spreading the word-in-tone is for sure over the net and I'd rather not buy a record\cd\dvd if the actual person I'm trying to support only gets a fraction of what he should get...AAhh these greedy f*cks...!

Yes, absolutely. If you can control your destiny, do so. It is very sad that RIAA has to find a revenue source from artists, musicians and song writers, instead of creating new markets to make win-win-win situations. Only bad results will come from this.
